Do you want to feel happier?
With the turn of the New Year and life already soaring towards the middle of January it can be a time when a few of us feel a little gloomier than we would hope to. The weather is a little dull (this side of the world anyway) and your fresh start for the New Year hasn't quite started yet.
So if you feel you'd like a little pick me up then here are a few things you can do to lift your spirits and make your soul soar, they are free and most won't take very much time at all to accomplish.
As soon as you begin to smile, your brain releases dopamine,
endorphins and serotonin into the blood stream and you will begin to feel happier. These hormones help relax the body and lower your heart rate. The minute you start smiling you will lift your spirits and most definitely feel happier. Don't believe me? Try It!
2. Be Grateful

The wonderful thing about gratitude is that we all have the power within ourselves to practice it, it doesn't take time out of our day, it doesn't cost a dime but it most certainly will help you feel happier.

Gratitude has the power to turn negatives into positive and sorrow into joy. Every single one of us has things in our lives that we can be grateful for. Take a moment to remind yourself of all the things you are blessed to have in your life and you'll instantly feel happier.
3. Give Yourself A Compliment
Focus on the things you like about yourself rather than the things you don't. Celebrate your successes rather than your failures. Any time you notice yourself being negative towards yourself, immediately remind yourself of all the things you are pretty good at. Watch as your mood lifts and you begin to feel happier.
4. Do One Simple Thing That Fills Your Heart With Joy
This could be something as simple as putting on your favourite song and dance! It could be baking, singing, painting, reading or laughing. Whatever it is do it, do it with gusto, enjoy every moment and fill your heart with joy. There really is no better feeling.
5. Cut Something Negative Out Of Your Life
You have the power to unfollow, delete or simply say no. If you are in the company of someone who is bringing you down. If you are reading something on social media that makes you feel or react negatively. Delete, unfollow or remove yourself. You have permission to only be surrounded by the things which bring you JOY. You have permission to only be surrounded by the things that make you feel happier.
Never be afraid to exercise that permission and do so unapologetically. You will instantly feel a lift in your spirits once the negative is removed.
