I’m too busy.
The top reason why people don’t workout.
But, there is a way that you can workout within your busy lifestyle.
So, this isn’t a 5 ways to fit a workout into your workflow type of blog.
Busy isn’t an excuse, it’s a way of life.
But, sometimes if not most times we are hiding in our own inactivity.
Because, we like to imagine ourselves as busy, being pulled from pillar to post without time to do anything that we want to do.
We just love to think of ourselves as busy.
But, why is that?
Because, it is a pre-conditioned notion that you are only living life to the max if you can say you are too busy to look after yourself properly.
Too busy to cook a meal from scratch, too busy to go to the gym, too busy to take 15 minutes to call your best friend.
But, are you too busy being busy?
Is your time productive, is it fulfilling, or is it full of procrastination and time wasting?
I’d imaging that the latter definitely makes an appearance at least once a week, for all of us including myself.
So, have you ever thought about taking a minute to stop and be honest with yourself?
Well first off I think you need to take a big deep breath. And, don’t look at working out as being a chore and remember the most important thing...
ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING. 1 ROUND IS BETTER THAT NO ROUNDS.
Because you have to realise that this is stemming from a place of immense pressure.
And this is pressure that you are putting on yourself to turn up or to perform to perfection. Pressure that you feel that in order for you to get a workout in you must have at least 1 hour of uninterrupted time available, and that is just not true.
Because every single movement you make during your day counts towards your exercise and energy expenditure.
Start by thinking NEAT – Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.
This is every movement you make which isn't related to sleep, eating or exercise.
So, the next time you think about taking the lift, driving to the shop instead of walking, GET NEAT.
Move your body at every opportunity, take the stairs, hoover the floor, clean the bathroom - household chores are no longer chores - they are a fast track to body positive!!
The amount of calories you burn by increasing the amount of NEAT in your day, can lead to massive benefits in how you feel and how quick your transformation takes place.
And get out in the fresh air every spare minute you have, a quick walk around the block.
Also, do your workouts at home, there are so many amazing things you can do without leaving your home, without needing to wear trainers and most definitely without having to have any special gym equipment.
Once you change your psyche from busy to productive you’ll be amazed at how many times in a week you’ll be able to give that 20 minutes to move your body.
5 minutes will turn into 10 minutes, which will turn into 15 minutes and eventually you’ll have your 20 minutes where you’ll be saying – I can sit down with a cuppa and watch TV or indeed I can watch TV whilst popping out a quick bit of exercise. The time will go by and I guarantee you’ll always feel so much better by choosing to move your body over not.
When our program was designed it was designed specifically for busy people, moms, single women, corporate junkies flying from one continent to the next and time and time again they prove that anyone, even the busiest of people, All can give 20 minutes to exercise IF THEY REALLY WANT TO.
So, start small.
Remove the negatives. 5 minutes to begin and add on 1 minute extra any time you can. Just start.
It won’t be long before you are more productive than ever because you have given exercise and movement a space in your life.
If you don’t believe me, try it.
From a former couch potato that would always have chosen the cup of tea and TV over exercise ANY DAY!
You don’t have to be great to start but you do have to start to be great.
